Pagans, Heathens, Wiccans & Other Friends: Do any of you practice dowsing?

Long before I did any energy work or even attempted to practice any sort of magick, my grandfather taught me how to dowse for water using a curved piece of aircraft cable. I never really used it to look for ley lines or anything like that. I mostly just had fun with it. It’s been years since I’ve tried it.

If you do dowse, where did you learn and what type of tools do you prefer to use? Do you use it to look for water, or more for divination purposes?

I don’t know anyone else who does it, and I’m curious. I’ve been wanting to pick it back up again.

Feel free to call me a “dowsebag”, if you must. I thought I’d beat you to it. ;P
I’ve had very good results using metal cable, and my grandfather let me “find” where to drill a new well on his ranch a few times. He already knew where, of course, but he let me find it on my own. It never worked for anyone else in our family either.

Oh that sounds like fun. I haven’t done that myself however, traditionally water witches use forked branches from the Witch Hazel plant.
    Good luck and enjoy!
